The receptionist will take some details from you, offering an appointment or GP telephone advice where appropriate. Please note that we cannot guarantee which doctor you will see if you require urgent medical care.

Routine Appointment

To book a routine appointment please call 01463 793400.

Consultation is by appointment only for GPs, Practice Nurse and Healthcare Assistants. Therefore, please telephone beforehand to make an appointment.

Appointments are available each day with our GPs and nursing team and we provide early morning appointments on some days of the week and a late surgery on Thursday or Tuesday evenings.

The healthcare assistants provide appointments on a Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and they should be consulted for blood tests, blood pressure checks, height and weight measurements and ECGs.

The surgery has both male and female doctors.

When you get in touch, we will ask what you need help with.

We will use the information you give us to choose the most suitable doctor, nurse or health professional to help you.

Your appointment

However you choose to contact us, we may offer you a consultation:

  • by phone
  • face to face at the surgery

Cancelling or changing an appointment

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.  The Practice has a "Did not attend (DNA)" policy and we will write to you if you have missed two appointments without notifying us of your need to cancel.  Please, therefore, cancel unwanted appointments.  If patients continue to miss booked appointments without cancellation they may be removed from the practice list.

If appointments are not cancelled with sufficient time to enable us to re-allocate them to another patient they will be considered a DNA- please cancel on the day appointments at least half an hour before the consultation time.

To cancel your appointment:

  • call 01463 793400 from 8am
  • reply to your appointment reminder text message

If you need help when we are closed

If you require a doctor urgently when the surgery is closed then please telephone NHS 24 on 111. There is also now an app called NHS 24 Online which allows you to find your nearest services and to assess your symptoms to find out what you should do next. For more details on the app please click here.

Click here for more information on calling NHS 24 on 111

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone or face-to-face
  • if you need a chaperone
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10am.

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to the staff to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.  This information helps them to prioritise their visits.

GP Registrars/ Medical Students

The surgery is an accredited training practice.  This means that sometimes we will have GP Registrars working with us who are undertaking three years of additional medical education and training in order to specialise as a General Practitioner. GP Registrars are fully qualified doctors.

In addition, from time to time, undergraduate medical students will have a placement at the surgery. They usually sit in with a Clinician during consultations but you if you do not wish for a student to be present you will be given the opportunity to say so.
